Strategy of the school development for this new millennium is determined by the dynamical development of the world trade, banking, insurance, transfer and acquisition of data and information by means of electronic media. An extension to the school premises, creation and completion of new subject of study, improving the educational procedures, modernization of the school equipment, cooperation with the parents of students, and especially professional and enthusiastic pedagogical staff guarantees approaching this goal as soon as possible.
What the time has written…
Official opening of the school took place on the 10th September 1948. In the school year of 1948/49 this school held one
class of 2-year state commercial school. Pedagogical staff was made up of 9 teachers, some of them teaching at the Prievidza Grammar School
as well. On the 30th January 1950 this school was given another name - Economic School. The first graduates left school in that school
year. Although they didn´t take the school leaving examination, their certificate was valid as a trade licence.
On 1 September 1952 this school was reorganized and it was spreaded with the department of the Higher Economic School.
Its graduates finished school after 4 years by passing the school leaving examination. Besides this
form of studying, 2-year economic school still existed up to the 1955/56 school year. The sixties were very significant in the history of the
school.
On 1st February 1961 the Higher Economic School was renamed
into the Secondary Economic School with the branch financing and macroeconomic survey. Other changes in the life of the school are connected
with the year 1962, when the existing school was united with the Special School of Communal Catering in
Prievidza.
The school was gradually expanding, new classes were added, new teachers were hired, and also other subjects of study were introduced. While expanding the school, new
problem arose in front of the school headmasters - premises, where the 26-class school could function
effectively. The second building for the school, which was originally the piaristic monastery, ceased to be suitable as the school premises. The premises of the
former primary school were the solution of the problem. On the 1st September 1989 the first school bell rang in today´s school premises. This ringing symbolically meant
the last chapter in the history of the school so far. November 1989, comeback of democratic ideals, belief in justice, marked the development of events at school as
well. So far the last headmaster became Mgr. Ľubomír Vida who has been carrying out the dream of his predecessors, the teachers and the students about a large
and spacious school with a satisfactory number od specialized classrooms, when the construction of a new building of school started.
In spite of the fact that the history of the school was influenced by the idea of a uniform socialistic school, there have been significant successes, a high quality
teacher staff, a beautiful school atmosphere, but first of all, its successful students, who have always claimed their Alma Mater.
